Automotive Careers take off at the

United Technologies Center 

You may be acquainted with United Technologies Center (UTC) on the Hogan Road in Bangor.  For those of you who are not familiar with them, UTC is a technical high school serving the communities of Bangor, Brewer, Corinth (Central High School), Hampden, Hermon, and Old Town.  Students may also attend from private high schools within the region. Among other courses, UTC offers hands-on, career-oriented education in a variety of Automotive Programs including:

• Auto Body & Refinishing Technology
• Automotive Engineering Diagnostics
• Automotive Engineering - Suspensions & Control Systems

 As a result, we work very closely with the school to help them meet their goal of preparing their students to excel at their career choice upon graduation. Our Service Manager is currently a member of their advisory council, and many of our current employees are UTC graduates. 

UTC recently held their annual local Skills USA Competition.  “SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. Three Downeast employees were asked to judge the event held last month: Bob Filanowksi, manager of Downeast Auto Body; Tom Colbath, Downeast Auto Body Paint Team Leader, and Dan Paige, Toyota Master Service Technician.   Our judges were very impressed with the students’ knowledge and abilities.  Please click here to see our photo gallery of the event or visit utc.mainecte.org/ for more information on UTC’s Automotive Career Programs.
